Organizational Information (continued)

Landmine Clearance International (LCI) was incorporated in May of 1999 to organize former military and civilian experts around projects tailored to specific regional challenges. Working with these specialists, and the support of a sophisticated equipment design and production facility, LCI has created the most comprehensive curriculum for training humanitarian mine clearance teams. That curriculum forms the core of the LCI system, a standardized, globally applicable approach to anti-landmine action. The LCI system comprises an unrivaled array of capabilities including:

  • Landmine and explosive ordnance clearance performed by internationally recognized experts.
  • Teaching indigenous groups safe and effective techniques for munitions disposal and landmine removal.
  • A train-the-trainer program that enables a local team to become self-sufficient in recruiting, training, and managing additional personnel.
  • Implementation of a variety of landmine clearance techniques, including research and development of mechanized equipment.
  • Community programs to improve landmine safety and awareness in local communities.

Helping the people of war-afflicted nations to begin their own process of rebuilding is the first step toward the end of this global humanitarian crisis. People threatened by mines will remain unable to provide for the nourishment, health, and economic future of their families until every last one of these weapons is removed. The goal of clearing the world's landmines is attainable through the implementation of the LCI system, which is possible only with the support of concerned individuals, corporations, and institutions.
